Our Incredible Supporters
Books For Cancer
Cristelle rediscovered a love of books and reading when her son Taiyo was diagnosed with T-cell Lymphoblastic Leukaemia at the age of 2. Wanting to marry her love of reading with fundraising, Cristelle decided to approach prominent authors and ask for signed copies of their books to add to a prize pool for a raffle.
Garnering donations from various authors, including the Hon. Julia Gillard, Trent Dalton & Jane Harper to name a few, Cristelle developed and ran a unique, successful and passionate fundraiser to support families just like hers.
Remarkable Music
Mark Matthews, a local to Wollongong, NSW has been running Music-a-thons' where he holds regular, end of term music concerts. His students get the chance to hone their public performance skills in front of their mums and dads, and often experience a professional musician who performs alongside the students, who come and donate their time for the event as well. These concerts, and others, which are open to the public are effectively fun-raisers! with door proceeds contributing to Redkite.
Sorrento Saints
The Sorrento Saints, a passionate group of netballers in WA have supported the Redkite for the past 3 years and so far has raised approximately $10,000 over this time. The team dresses up on a day during the regular playing season alongside regular cake stalls and treats. 2020 has seen the Saints pivot their fundraising to hold a quiz night!
Sydney Live Steam Locomotive Society
Formed in 1948, the Sydney Live Steam Locomotive Society brings the magic of steam to the people of Sydney on the 3rd Saturday of every month. The SLSLS have been long term supporters of Redkite donating funds from one open day a year to Redkite in support of the children, young people and teens Redkite supports
Lithgow Lights
Nothing brings a smile to your face quite as much as the beautiful team behind the Lithgow Lights.
A popular destination for Lithgow residents is the animated light display run by Lithgow Lights, also known as the Rawsthorne family, located in Finlay Avenue. Lithgow Lights is the only site dedicated to Animated Christmas Lights in Lithgow, NSW, Australia. Running music through their private radio station, the Rawsthorne family dazzle onlookers through their incredible christmas lights show - it's definitely worth the drive!
Al's Ride
With a mission to make a difference for children with brain cancer and serious childhood disease Al's Ride is an annual motorcycle ride to Bathurst, the home of Alan Keith Ryan, the little man behind the ride. Coming from all across NSW and meeting at Bathurst, Al's Ride has become one of the biggest and most incredible community fundraising initiatives to support Redkite with a beautiful, honest and pasionate message driving the event.
Bryson Challenge
On the 10th May 2012 Bryson Challacombe was diagnosed with a form of cancer called rhabdomyosarcoma – a tumour in the cavity behind his left eye. 6 months later he passed away. During the toughest period of his life, unfailing support was received from Redkite - a group we now want to thank. On the 8th June 2013 we hosted a a Trivia Night to celebrate what would have been the 21st birthday of Bryson Challacombe. On the night we also ran a Silent Auction to raise funds for the amazing Redkite who have provided unconditional support and deserve ours in return. Since this time, further fundraisers have taken place and plans for more to come.
Cedars Tavern
Run raffles every Friday at their venue in Emerton, NSW to raise funds and awareness for Redkite. Their ongoing support has raised enough funds for Redkite to have supported 20 families for a year, with a complete range of services. We're incredibly grateful for their ongoing support of Redkite
Team Vari
From October 1st to 23rd 2020 Belinda & Maria are walking 740km around South Australia to raise funds for Redkite in memory of their daughter Natalie. They want to enable families to spend time with their children and hopefully remove a small burden of the hurdles and hardships they will face by raising $50,000 this year
