Le-Anne’s world shattered when her son Tommy, just nine years old, was diagnosed with a massive tumor crushing his lungs. As a sole parent, she had always worked hard to provide Tommy with a good life, but childhood cancer changed everything.

Tommy endured painful treatments, including chemotherapy and weekly lumbar punctures, while Le-Anne stayed by his side, watching in agony as the illness and treatments took a toll on her once lively, active boy. She lost her job and struggled to make ends meet, but her greatest fear was losing Tommy.

“Every day, I was terrified he might not survive,” Le-Anne recalls. “I couldn’t sleep. I just cried, thinking about the next emergency, the next time I might lose him.”

Thanks to Redkite, Le-Anne received crucial financial and emotional support. Redkite provided food and fuel vouchers, help with rent and bills, and most importantly, the reassurance that she wasn’t alone.

Tommy still has another year of treatment ahead, but with Redkite’s support, Le-Anne can stay by his side.

• Funds donated through https://fundraise.redkite.org.au/christmas-appeal-2024 from 9:00 am AEDT 29/10/24 to 11:59pm AEDT 31/12/24 will be eligible for dollar matching until the financial cap of $50,000 is reached.
• If the donation is cancelled or refunded during the matching period or any time after, it will not be eligible for matching offer.
• Donations received during Redkite’s Christmas Appeal period will be matched up to a maximum of AUD $50,000 by our longtime partner, MPA. 
• All individual donations above $2 (made solely by the donor) are tax-deductible.
• Donations made via third party platforms do not qualify for donation matching.
